ABOUT MIAMI

THINGS TO SEE AND DO

Miami has some of the best beaches in the Gold Coast. Miami actually has two beaches separated by the South Nobby headland, Nobby Beach to the north and Burleigh Beach to the south. Lifeguards patrol both beaches on either side of the headland (Hythe St & Kratzman Ave) and at North Nobby (Santa Monica Rd and Lavarack Rd). The best time to bathe is in the morning between 8 and 11 am as onshore / southerly winds tend to pick up in the afternoon and conditions become less stable.

Toilets, picnic and barbeque facilities can be found along the beaches. The beaches are an excellent place for running, surfing and fishing. The short walk or drive down Riviera Road is the best way to reach the beaches.

South Nobby is the first headland south of Surfers Paradise. It has extensive and picturesque views in most directions and has safe and well-maintained boardwalks along the cliff top. The area is particularly inviting in the early morning or late afternoon. There are steps leading up from the beach at the southern end of Marine Pde.

North Nobby offers walking tracks as well as a scenic view over the beach. It was formerly the site of Magic Mountain castle. A rough track leads up from the northern end of Redondo Av.

A large recreation area consisting of a golf course, tennis courts, swimming pool, rugby field, sports oval, canoeing facility and skateboard ramps. The park has two freshwater and one saltwater lake with abundant bird life. The park is located on Pacific Ave (by turning left at the lights after the Shell service station)
